Language

The official language of the conference will be English.

No simultaneous translation will be provided.

Passport and Visas

All non-residents of the EU are required to have a valid passport.

Participants should check regarding visa requirements for travel to the Czech Republic. Applications should be made to the nearest Czech Embassy or Consulate as soon as possible. Citizens of member states of the European Union and the USA do not need visas.

Travelling to Brno

Brno can be reached

by plane

via Vienna International Airport (VIE) Schwechat and then by train from Wien-Meidling to Brno (at least every 2 hrs) or by direct buses from airport Flughafen Schwechat nearly every hour. To reach the Wien-Meidling you can use taxis (ride takes approximately 20 minutes), busses Flughafenbus (every 20 min)(ride takes approximately 20 minutes).

via Prague International Airport and then best by a bus of the Student Agency directly from Prague Airport to Brno (stop near railway station). Alternatively by a train operating between Prague and Brno every 1 hrs (travelling takes about 2 and half hour) or by coach from Florenc - Bus Station operating daily every half an hour (travelling time 2 and half hour).

Direct to Brno Airport by few direct connections from Prague or Ryanair flight from London Stansted (STN) (consult http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN) and from some new destinations. There is regular bus connection from Brno airport to centre of city and taxi is available as well. The airport is in a close distance to city.

by train

arrival is at Brno-hlavní nádraží. From Brno-hlavní nádraží take tram No. 1 (direction to Bystrc Ečerova) and exit at 7th stop Lipová, where the congress venue is located withinin walking distance (ca. 3 minutes). A taxi is available as well.

by car

via motorway D1 (from the west or east) or D2 (from the south). Follow the signs directly to Výstaviště (Trade Fairs place). Parking places are located in front of the area and are accessible from street Vinařská as well as from behind the conference hall at Lipová street (consult http://mapa.brno.cz/mapa/). Places not marked as parking above the venue of symposium are not recommended.

Travelling in Brno

Basic fare in public transport (trams, buses and trolleybuses) is 22 Kč (CZK). Tickets are available at the main stations in automatic machines, kiosks or can be purchased (at a more expensive rate) from the driver.

The congress venue is accessible from railway station (Brno-hlavní nádraží) by tram No. 1 direction to Bystrc Ečerova (7th stop Lipová). The congress hall and registration office is located in walking distance (ca. 3 minutes).

Letter of Invitation

On request, the Conference Chairman is willing to send personal invitations to prospective conference participants. Such invitations are only to help participants to raise travel funds or to obtain visas. The invitations do not indicate commitment of the organizers to provide financial support.

Insurance and Liability

Participants are advised to arrange appropriate travel insurance. No responsibility can be assumed by the Congress for personal accidents, sickness, theft, or property damage suffered by the participants.

Climate

Weather in September is usually warm and sunny (18-25 °C). However, evenings may be cool and there is some possibility of brief showers. Thus, a jacket or a raincoat and an umbrella may be useful.

The electrical current is 230 volts, 50 Hz.

Numerous exchange Offices are located near the railway station as well as in every bank.

Money can be changed at the airport, at banks, exchange bureaus, and larger hotels.

For a cash advance, credit cards can be used at cash dispensers (Bankomat) which are available all over the city.

Shopping

Typical shopping hours are Monday to Friday 09:00am - 6:00pm and Saturday 10:00am - 1:00pm. Apart from restaurants, some tobacconists and small supermarkets at petrol stations and at the main railway stations, shops are closed on Sundays. Some supermarkets located mostly outside of the city have longer opening hours and are reachable by a free bus transport leaving from stops near railway station.
